Charming natural pools and vegetation are nestled beneath the imposing cliffs at the heart of an oasis in the lowest desert on earth. The Einot Tzukim nature reserve is one of the most unique and fascinating natural reserves in Israel, due to the diversity of its wildlife and plant-life, as well as the remnants of ancient humanity discovered there.
The nature reserve features natural wading and swimming pools near the entrance, a hike along the marked trail through the diverse breeding grounds and natural sites at the nature reserve, all carefully marked and described on informative signs. Natural springs flow through the "hidden reserve" at the southern end of the park, where a trail has been marked amidst the clear pools of water and overflowing vegetation.
Einot Tzukim offers an excellent view of the receding Dead Sea, where you can observe the coast from a distance and notice the extreme changes to the landscape over the last decades.
There is no direct access to the Dead Sea from the nature reserve.
Accessibility – parking, restrooms, trails from the recreational area to the archeological site, accessible picnic tables, drinking fountains and access to the wading pool.
A wheelchair lift has been installed at the Tamar pool to lower people in wheelchairs into the deep pool.
The hidden reserve is not wheelchair accessible, but is passable for people with handicaps. Call 02-9942355 to schedule a visit and for more information.
